Bee Sting Arrives!
Bow Season Review
The 2012 bow hunting season brought a first time winner of the HHC Big Buck Award with Bee Sting taking honors. He killed a very respectable 8 point buck in early October from the Nipple Stand to claim top honors. Nice work Stinger!! Pedro was the only other club member to connect on buck as he filled his tag with an 8 pointer in mid October. All in all it was another fantastic season of chasing whitetails in Mudbrook Valley. Although the boys are getting older and slowing down just a bit there are some up and coming Sons of Mudbrook that are now taking up the hunting reigns. Barnacle's son Odie, Paco's son Juan, and Pedro's son Hopper are the future of the HHC and doing quite well in the woods at some very young ages. The future looks bright as long as Barnacle keeps mentoring them! (For those of you who don't know Barnacle..this is a joke).
Gun Season Review
The 2012 gun hunting season was a very productive one for the boys of the Highbanks Hunting Club. Lefty started the season off right when he connected on an awesome 12 point buck opening morning. This buck was on numerous trail cam photo's and Lefty had been chasing this big boy all season with his bow. Finally, on a crisp clear morning, he was able to close the deal of a lifetime on a beautiful wall mounter by shooting it at 15 yards along the edge of a standing corn field. Awesome job Lefty. Also dropping some venison on opening weekend was Hopper with two does taken from Uncle Pablo's tripod stand. Hopper also shot a small deer later in the week that was nicknamed Shamwow because it's fur was so soft. Pedro closed out the HHC gun harvest when he shot a nice 8 point buck in the Salad Swamp on the last weekend. There was plenty of excitement and venison in 2012. Let's hope 2013 brings the same!
